Video games tester jobs appear to be the next
great job opportunity in the high tech computer software industry. As shown by the images above, there certainly is
a great deal of interest in this booming job market. This website will examine this recent phenomena in more detail
to see if it is in fact as "good as it looks".
What are Video Game Testers?
Video gaming and the video game market has shown record growth in the past decade, and despite the recent
recession, appears to still be going strong. Whether we look at the traditional home game systems such as the
X-Box, PS 2/PS3, or the new and very popular Wii gaming system, all have one important thing
in common. Creators of video games need people to test out the many games that run on these gaming
devices before these new games are marketed and sold to the consumer. This has created
an entirely new job market, namely video game tester jobs, which did not exist 20 years ago, and is only
recently becoming very popular.
Millions and millions of dollars are being spend on the creation of video games with respect to the development,
programming and promotion stages, however unless the end product is a stable product, without glitches or
bugs (problems), this money could be wasted as people will not buy the product.
Enter the video game tester, a person who is paid by the company, who has developed the game software,
to test the new product before can be actually sold to the game buying public, people like you and I.
In the past, being a video game tester usually meant working the traditional 9-5 job at the work site owned by
the game creator. This restricted these types of jobs to people who lived nearby, or were will to move to where
this facility was located. Now, due to the high demand for video game testers, some companies are
considering offering video game tester jobs offsite, meaning you can work full or part time as a video game
tester in your own home! Even if you live thousands of miles or kilometres away from the actual gaming
company's work site.
This notion of staying at home and getting paid to play video games for money, is
what has created such an interest in video game tester jobs. No matter where you live, your age, sex, etc., you
could possibly be a video game tester at home and make money at the same time!
If you are a gamer (like me), this sounds too good to be true. Imagine having fun and
get paid to play video games, all at the same time.
Hmmm, perhaps we need to actually look at what a video game tester does before we get too excited?
